Developing the system map and architecture for a Rippl Campaign was a great exercise that allowed us to synthesize our ideas. The readings and videos on influence and persuasion resonated with us as we walked through each step of inspiring change through this little web app. Really a great team learning experience.
This truly became a reality for me this quarter. I got really pretty good at failing and - now after a bit of relaxational meditation - being happy with what I learned from the process. I have now tried to code a facebook app, an android app and i have the basics of a Web App. Though I failed at creating a usable product, I learned alot about the process and feel that my thinking about how to accomplish something like this isn't too far off, just syntax at this point. Team Rippl has been AWESOME to work with, I can't say enough about that! -Dave
This has been an amazing experience to work with this team, to take the high level theory that we learned in our class readings and apply them to our app project, which started as this grand vision. And finally to take this concept and play with it, shape it, have fun with it, and attempt to make it into a simple user interface. The Rippl App is a social change maker.
This was a really interesting project. In hindsight, I think we bit off more than we realized at first. Then again, from the start, we all knew and wanted this project to live and develop beyond the time frame of the class.
I learned a lot about iteration. Iterations for our team differed than it did for the other groups. It began immediately as we worked to refine our individual visions and turn them into a shared vision. Iterations continued as we looked forward to Cialdini features we would want in the future (even as we knew that creating them would be beyond the scope of the assignment). And iterations also had to shift as we realized that achieving a simple interface and process is actually a very complicated thing to do.
